Two Piece Prom Dresses 2016

For juniors and seniors, prom cannot come soon enough. It is the event of the year, the event everyone talks about starting the first day back to school. Who is going with who, and what everyone is wearing. Dress shopping is the most exciting during prom season, seeing the hottest new trends of the year and scooping up the perfect look for you. Abbott’s Bridal & Formalwear is so very excited to receive the 2016 prom collection. It may be our favorite year yet!

One of the newest and hottest trends we are seeing from Mori Lee Paparazzi and Faviana are two piece prom dresses. Fully beaded and embellished tops accompanied by flowing tulle or fitted jersey skirts. High necklines are common when looking at two piece dresses, as well as the covered illusion beaded backs. While this look can be more on the sultry side, the high necklines can make them look very sweet and sophisticated. We are also seeing a lot of satin ball gown two pieces for this year too. The satin gives more of a traditional feel, while still being trendy with the detached top.

If a two piece prom dress is what you’re after, we always suggest looking into your schools dress code. The last thing you want is to find the dress of your dreams and have it not be appropriate to wear. However, the skirts tend to be a higher waist leaving minimal midriff showing beneath the crop top. Knowing what is permitted will allow you to pick your perfect dress for your unforgettable night!

Below is a sneak peek of what Abbott’s Bridal & Formalwear will be receiving this prom season!! All featured from Mori Lee’s Paparazzi 2016 prom collection. You can follow our Facebook and Instagram accounts for updates on their arrival! Cannot wait to see you soon!

Abbott's Homecoming Dresses 2015

Homecoming is the best part of the beginning of a school year. You’re back in school with all your friends, football season starts, and the first dance of the year is around the corner. Shopping for a dress is part of all the fun, trying on different styles and picking the perfect one for you. Every school is a little different when it comes to style, some do long dresses, and some do short dresses. Another thing to keep in mind is if your school has a dress code pertaining to formalwear.

Here at Abbott’s we find there is an even balance of schools that do long versus short dresses. Something a little more simple or understated is usually the style girls look for when going long for homecoming. Most parents think spending a little less on a homecoming dress is appropriate, especially if they will be paying for a prom dress in the same year. Girls, going simpler for homecoming may result in getting the prom dress of your dreams!

Short homecoming dresses tend to be a little fancier. Poufy short tulle skirts adorned with heavily beaded tops. These styles normally come at a higher price point, but make for a very fun party dress! Abbott’s loves the Sticks & Stones line from Mori Lee. They have so many different styles to choose from and are always trendy for our girls!

Also remember when shopping for your perfect homecoming dress, some stores may have dresses left from previous proms and homecomings at discounted prices. If you happen to find a long dress you love, don’t forget that hemming it knee length may be a great option! This will give you that short flirty dress you were looking for with a custom flair. Some of our favorite homecoming designers are Mori Lee Sticks & Stones and Faviana New York.

Most of all when heading out shopping HAVE FUN! This is a very exciting time in your life and you deserve to look beautiful!

It’s a known fact: Women love shoes! However, when it comes to finding thee shoe, we tend to forget our savvy shopping ways. “Where can I find my wedding shoes? I’ve looked everywhere!” are frequent statements we hear at Abbott’s. Since there are so many different options for wedding shoes, brides tend question where to start. For many brides Pinterest becomes a go to for inspiration. Some turn to the obvious department stores like Nordstrom, Saks, Macy’s, and Dillard’s. Others turn to online options such as and Etsy. The best place to start would be your local bridal shop. Most of the time, bridal shops such as Abbott’s carry various heel heights and styles that will cover most of the styles out there. Not to mention, usually there is an option to dye your shoes any color you could think of! There are so many options out there; you just need to nail down what exactly you are looking for, how much you would like to spend, and where to start your shopping.

Let’s say you are the fancy black tie bride. Your gown WILL be the highlight of the night, and your shoes need to measure up to the rest of the ensemble. Formal brides tend to turn to the high end department stores like Nordstrom or Saks Fifth Avenue for their perfect shoe. Designers like Sarah Jessica Parker, Manolo Blahnik, and Christian Louboutin provide the fashion these brides are looking for. These prices can range anywhere from $350-$1,000+ which reflects in their attention to detail and quality materials.
