Appointments are required and made over the phone. Weekday bridal appointments begin at 11am with our last  appointment at 6pm. On Saturdays, brides can schedule appointments at 10am, 12:30pm, and 3pm. We encourage the bride to accompany their bridesmaids to any bridal party appointments to expedite the ordering and confirmation process.  We want you to have an exceptional experience in our store; therefore, we want to make sure one of our bridal consultants will be readily available to assist you, regardless of the type of appointment you are booking.

Do I need an appointment?

01

Our rooms accommodate between 2 and 4 guests. We do not allow children under the age of 10 in the store unless the child is an infant and in a car seat or carrier for the duration of the appointment. With experience, it is less stressful and more beneficial to bring only those who will help you make this important decision. Once you find your dress, there is plenty of time to bring additional guests to any future appointments.

How many guests should I bring to my appointment?

02

A bridal appointment on average takes up to two hours. Our appointments are not scheduled for a certain amount of time. We want you to take the time you need to find the dress of your dreams.

How long is a typical bridal appointment?

03

Typically, the majority of our designers we offer take up to 6-8 months of ordering time. We require 3-4 months for in-house for alterations. If your wedding date falls before this suggested time frame, we have an alterations suggestion list with local seamstresses' contact information and locations for your convenience.

When should I purchase my wedding dress?

Price range can vary; a typical range for a bridal gown at Abbott's is between $1,500 and $2,500. On the bridal floor, we have dresses that start at $900 and go up to $5,000, as well as a special sale room that accommodates price points of $300 and up (size and style availability is limited).

The time frame for ordering a special occasion dress is about 6-8 months. This varies from designer to designer as well as time of year. We also carry options for closer dates with our ready to wear companies.

When should I purchase my Mother of the bride/groom dress?

Bridesmaid dresses take up to 4 months to arrive. We recommend at least 6 months for a comfortable time frame for you and your attendants (choosing the dress, ordering, shipping and alterations). You want to give yourself between 1-2 months for alterations for these gowns.

When should I purchase my bridesmaid dress?

We have a wonderful alterations department where brides can enjoy the experience of professionalism of our seamstresses, who have over 100 years of combined experience. Alterations are exclusively for Abbott's Brides on a first-come-first-served basis. If you have your own seamstress, you are more than welcome to do alterations elsewhere. You are not required to have your alterations done here. We do not offer this service on bridesmaids or mother of the bride dresses, but we do provide a list of local seamstresses in the area.

Do you have Alterations?

08

The time needed for alterations and the number of fittings needed varies depending on who you choose to do them. Our in-house alterations take 3-4 months and are scheduled on a first-come-first-served basis. Our process usually consists of 2-3 fittings. We can begin to schedule your fittings once your dress arrives in our store. If your gown happens to come in before the recommended alterations time frame, we will happily schedule you a pre-alterations appointment to try on your wedding dress with a bridal consultant before you start the alteration process. For mothers and bridesmaids, you will typically need to start this process 1-2 months prior to the wedding date depending on your seamstress. We do not offer alterations for mothers-of or bridesmaids.

Once my wedding dress comes in, how many fittings will I need and when should I start them?

09

It is essential to have the shoes that you will be wearing for your wedding day. One of the most important things a seamstress does is mark your hemline, so your shoes need to be the same shoe/height at every appointment. In addition, you should wear any/all undergarments that you plan to wear on your wedding day. Even something as simple as a strapless bra can completely change the look and fit of your gown!

What do I need to bring to my bridal alterations appointment?

10

Yes! We offer this service to all brides, whether they purchased their dress with us or not. This process normally includes dress cleaning, preservation, and sealing, and usually takes 8-12 weeks to complete. There are options for cleaning or preservation only.

After the wedding, do you offer preservation services?
